Grognock is a half orc monk that comes from the Monastery of the Mending Palm in Atavar. He has a finely trained body, but tacks tact in social scenarios. He has had a premonition of a dark future that he endeavors to prevent.

Description

Grognock has an imposing height for a half-orc and stands high above most people. The orcish features of his face give him a stern look, considered monstrous by some.

Grognock has shown himself to be somewhat noncommittal with his faith, praying and making large offerings to multiple gods while also growing irritated when proselytized. He is apparently convinced he might be nobility.

Skills and Abilities

Due to his monastic training, Grognock's martial skills are finely honed. In battle, his reaction times are almost inhuman. Despite his imposing size, he is very difficult to land a blow on.

Magical Fists

Grognock has honed his skills to the point where he is able to infuse his strikes with the power of his ki, allowing him to hit foes using magic damage.

History

Grognock was trained at the Monastery of the Mending Palm, located between the kingdoms of Caldenvald and Utesh-Verik. At some point he left his home in search of adventure, later receiving a vision of a threat of chaos, and set off to Gessaria in order to face down this prophecy. He has a father named Baeloth Billingstooth, and a mother named Growlshrub.

Quest

Grognock seeks to challenge a dark prophecy he faces in his visions. He believes that the ancient enemy of his monastery, the demigod Vortek, is seeking to revive himself. He has discovered that an element of Vortek, the Sallow Stone, has been in the party's possession for some time. Grognock is haunted by vivid, terrifying nightmares every night of his home, family and friends being consumed by the flames of the demigod, surrounded by 7 shadowed figures.

Old Tevari Details

Grognock overheard Kradva Ospen intentions to head north to Madrioc, and attempted to convince him to hire him as well. He tried demonstrating his strength by starting a fight with a dwarf, but this only terrified Kradva; after a a failed plea, Kradva reluctantly told Grognock he'd think about it. He attempted to complete Wander encouragement, but relieved the contents of his stomach around halfway through, all over Wander.

Grognock went shopping with the rest of the party, but didn't seem keen on buying anything until he made it to the butcher; he then attempted to haggle with the butcher, and ended up buying a pound of pork jerky for 4 silver.

On the way to Havarson's Keep, Grognock carried Eugene after he collapsed due to exhaustion. Grognock then had 4 silver and his earwax stolen from him. At the keep, he bought a set of ten darts from the blacksmith.

Grognock was instrumental in subduing the bandits at the secluded shore; he flew from the trees and attacked the bandit captain, striking him multiple times until he was incapacitated. After the bandits were taken care of, he attempted to relight the lantern in the same sequence that the bandits lit it before.

Grognock aided in hiding the bandit bodies, and volunteered to row the dinghy to the bandit ship. After ferrying the party over 2 trips, Grognock takes over for Leadbelly in playing hide-and-seek with the goblins. However, he eventually decides to quit, and the goblins begin to believe they won. In the fight against the strange gooey goblins, Grognock was instrumental in keeping them at bay, managing to destroy a great number of them while completely evading all their attacks.

Upon searching the ship, he attempts to unlock a chest by chopping it with his hand; he fails. He is put to sleep with the rest of the party by a mysterious power.

Grognock is missing when the party awakes on the ship. He is later found face down in the sand on a nearby beach, throwing up on resuscitation. Grognock assists in the battle against the bandits in the bandit hideout, dealing some damage and taking a bandit down. He readies himself for battle against Kreegal.

Grognock's assistance was paramount in the fight against Kreegal. He took out a bandit frozen by Journey by literally punching out his heart, and managed to ground Kreegal with a dart. He continued to beat on Kreegal over the course of the battle, contributing the majority of the damage done to the goblin.

Grognock was smitten with Merin Lavelle upon seeing her hoist William onto her back with relative ease.
