Phaelnah Ellarian

Player Character

Phaelnah Ellarian is a noble elf of House Ellarian originating in the forests of Ethrel. She is a bit of an elitist, and often holds automatic disdain for races other than elves, especially humans. She is finely attuned to nature and cares about it deeply, but has shown herself to be somewhat narrow-minded and selfish otherwise.

Description

Phaelnah has a tall, thin figure. She carries herself with an air of nobility. He frame is augmented by her robes and chain armor; her effortless handing of the heavy vestments hint at her underlying power.

Under the influence of the Nightblight, Phaelnah has become decidedly more monstrous; her hair has become wiry, black, and unmanageable, her skin is covered in dark veins and her skin has become grey. She has talons on her hands and feet, as well has sharp teeth and black eyes with yellow sclera.

Skills and Abilities

Phaelnah isn't the sharpest elf, but she has a very good understanding of the world and its natural order. Her awareness of her surroundings and her focus approach superhuman levels.

Currently, her ability to perceive her surroundings is unparalleled, after she put on a set of cursed pauldrons that allow her to see in a complete radius around her. She has recently acquired the skill to remove these pauldrons using a spell, making her less of a sore thumb.

Well Read

Phaelnah loves to read and study, and holds a wealth of knowledge about the world from her research.

In Tune with Nature

Phaelnah has an affinity for the forests, likely stemming from growing up in them. She has a deep understanding of the natural.

Unwilling Covenant

Phaelnah is capable of siphoning an otherworldly power from the entity responsible for the corruption of her right arm. Instead of using the power of her goddess, Phaelnah may use the Nightblight for her spellcasting, and has access to a few special abilities.

History

Phaelnah hails from the forest kingdom of Ethrel, where she is apparently nobility from House Ellarian. At some point, she learned the ways of the cleric from a man named Inglis Alexandar. At some point, she mothered a child she named Ilewalyn.

Quest

The Nightblight is tearing apart Phaelnah's home forest of Ethrel, and she is looking for a cure.

Phaelnah contracted some sort of disease in her arm, which is a form of the Nightblight that was exacerbated by the Nightseeker. She wishes to undo this corruption. To this effect, she is looking for Inglis Alexandar, who she believes can undo the corrupting effects. Inglis appears to be caught up in a group of Aeltran radicalists causing trouble in the areas around Hymnethas.

Phaelnah has discovered that her daughter Ilewalyn is in Hymathel living under the moniker Yoxxel.

Notable Possessions

Eyeball Epaulets - Wander urged Phaelnah to don these cursed pauldrons, which affixed themselves to her shoulder. Phaelnah has learned how to remove the pauldrons, but keeps them around because of their utility.

Old Bio

In Gessaria

Phaelnah boarded Dirty Whale seeking passage to the continent of Gessaria. She assisted in fighting a set of three Crusher Crab on the deck of the ship, but often her magic did not do well by her. She was accosted by Eugene Wormtail, who clung tightly to her back, attempted to tie himself to her using a chain, and stole one of her gold pieces. She attempted to escape to the lower deck, but was captured by the Storm Knights. She escaped in a dinghy to Tevari Port Town.

Tevari Isles

On arriving at Advar's Tavern, she abstained from partaking in a round of drinks bought by Kradva Ospen. She did, however, accept his quest, and four gold coins. After making her way to her room for the night, she was visited by the innkeeper Lyria Hwindelwen, another wood elf from the same forests she was from. After exchanging pleasantries and information, she headed to sleep.

She went with William in the morning to investigate the kidnapping, but did not find much. Later she went shopping, but could not find anything that piqued her interests.

At William came screaming into the square, and she accompanied him all the way back to his house. She helped investigate the area, and waited in ambush at the secluded cove, overlooking the bandits.

Phaelnah took a supporting role in the fight against the bandits; she blessed Journey, Grognock, and Wander, assisting them in overwhelming the opposition.

She attempted to interrogate Jorden the bandit, but he was not receptive to her elven charms. She took the second boat to the bandit ship. On the ship, she investigated the lowest deck as the others helped Seamus McHammerface. She discovered a strange totem, filled with a strange, chaotic, wild magic. She worked with Wander to attempt to deactivate the totem, even electing to put her blood into the basin of liquid, following Wander's example. Frustrated with the lack of progress, she eventually takes out her mace and smashes the totem to pieces. She has a cup of celebratory tea afterwards.

Phaelnah is mysteriously put to sleep with the rest of the party by a strange wind.

Upon awakening, Phaelnah heads above and sees that they are heading towards land at a decent pace, perhaps almost too fast. As time passes, she becomes worried about the speed, and attempts to instruct Wander in cutting certain ropes to lower the sails. They succeed in eliminating the usefulness of the sails, though now they are in disrepair. Phaelnah floated to shore on a buoy, and spots Grognock on the shore from a distance.

Phaelnah helped track the bandits through the forest, but loses their trail partway. In the bandit hideout, she elects to remain away from the battle, investigating another room instead. She discovers some runes on a wall, which she identifies as transmutation runes, but could not discern the specific spell. She follows the party into the main hall.

In the battle with Kreegal, Phaelnah chooses to remain on the sidelines. She blesses Grognock, Seamus, and Leadbelly, and then attempts to obscure herself behind a pillar, somewhat unsuccessfully. Her concentration is broken when she was hit by a beam of energy.

Phaelnah later investigated the bookshelves in the hideout, but found nothing that piqued her particular intellectual interests. She read a few of the documents scattered around the floor.
