Sparkborn

Humanoid

When a Sparkborn first becomes aware of its own existence, it is said that witnesses do not realize that they are not alone. Objects are often animated by Arcanists, and these objects are known as constructs, but whereas a construct is a programmed creature without sapience, a Sparkborn is a sentient being the moment it becomes alive. The moment an object becomes a Sparkborn is referred to as "Receiving the Spark". Most Sparkborn are created through chaos and randomness, awakening in an instant as they receive their spark. Many scholars have attempted to create an environment to study the moment a machine becomes a Sparkborn, and none have succeeded. Some few Sparkborn however, are created when a higher power wills life into an inanimate object. These sparkborn, not created from chaos, but from the Spark being a gift from a higher power are commonly called Promethean Sparkborn

Letting go of the Spark that birthed their consciousness is a natural response to deterioration to Sparkborn, and many of the race live their lives until they are satisfied with their existence and then vacate their bodies. Oddly, when a Sparkborn knows they wish to release their Spark, they will often choose to pilgrimage to a site with other Sparkborn that have passed in this way. Ominous fields of lifeless statues, standing machines, and posed mannequins can sometimes be found in nature.

Alignment
A Sparkborn can be granted life through chaos and randomness. The right conditions can spontaneously birth a Sparkborn, and these Sparkborn tend to chaos.
