A large extremely dry desert. The Hopeless Desert is a sea of sand dunes stretching hundreds of miles along the isthmus. It creates a semi impassable barrier from the lands to the east. Some brave merchants have created trade routes to the lands to the east. With secretive arcane maps, they hop from rare oasis to rare oasis through the desert. But those who attempt the crossing unaided never return. Great sandstorms frequently blow west into the Gatidosa Plateau causing havok among the people and crops there. The desert seems to be slowly expanding west. Some merchants and scholars have returned with unbelievable tales of monstrously large insects and a land far to the east besieged by a toxic jungle. But the stories are so foreign in description that most do not believe.
