The Call of Atropus: In Dark Corners/Into The Abyss (Chapter 1)

The party headed towards Dagger Falls, as they had been called there by Councilor Maren. Maren informed them that he had heard rumors of a shipment containing something special and dangerous, coming in that night to the guard post. He believed that the guards were assisting in Zhentarim trafficking, and were likely facilitating the transit of something very dangerous and harmful. The party waited until shift changes occurred, and then snuck in through a sewer grate. They made their way to the edge of part of the underground barracks, and snuck inside. They found a storage room that had been outfitted with a teleportation sigil. They spent time altering it enough to disable it, while still ensuring that it would take the guards several days, at least, to notice the tampering. They then teleported out, taking one of the storage containers with them. They found that it radiated a necrotic and malicious energy, and as such they spoke to Maren, who guided them to a Druid Grove outside of town. They headed inside, and Fredrick called upon Helm for aid. In that moment, a Planetar appeared from a shimmering blue portal. He informed the party that the entity inside the box must be cast into a realm where it could not be found for some time. He hurled it into the Demiplane of Gold, where the box would be petrified in a sea of gilded light. Fredrick spoke to a shopkeep in town, who had been helpful to them earlier, named Ellis Valler. He offered to escort his daughter to Candlekeep, to see if she would be granted entry for schooling. For this, Ellas was extremely grateful. The party then returned to Hawthorne, awaiting further calls.
