After being summoned to the Nether Mountains, the party travelled North, before coming upon the Order of the Gauntlet Outpost. They conferred with Dulmar of the Order, and then set out to find the lost Laboratory of Ebeus, an ancient researcher and arcanist. They travelled through the frozen icelands, coming across a group of malformed redcaps, which they dispensed with. Unfortunately, Leila took a direct hit from one of them, resulting in the breaking of both her shins. They were later mended by Serene, but the pain endures from time to time. Finally, the party came upon the entrance to the laboratory, and ventured inside. They shut down all three portals, which had been identified by Captain Ramsey Gil as Carceri, the Deep Ethereal, and a strange version of the Astral Sea. They discovered texts on soul trapping, chronomancy, and the creation of life through pure magic. Upon reaching the lowest chamber, they fought their way past guardian statues, allips, and a strange ooze that ate their magical essences for sustenance. They found all that remained of Ebeus, his soul pulled into a Seldruin engraved lantern as he was obliterated by some otherworldly being. His blade was recovered, named Omen, capable of sensing creatures from other worlds. Most notably, a prophecy, visible in #the-call-of-atropus has been recovered.
