Chapter 5 - The Wooden Cutlass (The Hand of Umberlee)

Completed
Guild Mission

After eating way too much ice cream and repressing his feelings Kingswell Cooper succeeded in mostly avoiding answering the embarrassing questions from Sorrel'Svidal Farri.

At the end of the day, the group went to the port, and realizing they were in the wrong section of the port, they ran to the other section while Sorrel sped through the water to get there first.

Sorrel glanced at the man who was gazing at the horizon in the fog and noticed there was a striking resemblance with this man and Kingswell. He thought it may even be Kingswell's father.

In fact, it wasn't Kingswell's father John Cooper, but his father's twin brother, Daniel B. Cooper who Kingswell called ''Uncle Deebs'' in the past.

He told them about the events that happened to him aboard The Wooden Cutlass and told them this is where the Hand of Umberlee must still be. He accepted to guide them to the ship. Sorrel'Svidal Farri showed the bandolier and asked if it belonged to him, and it did so Sorrel returned it.

Before setting sail, the group did a short trip to Kingswell Cooper's childhood house where Daniel B. Cooper offered them some of the treasures he had acquired in the past and where Kingswell Cooperfound some of his old things.  Before leaving from Skaug, Daniel B. Cooperwanted to set the house on fire. No one questioned it, and Kingswell as well as some of the others agreed to help. So they set fire to the Cooper family house, but made a safety perimeter so nothing else would burn.

They then immediately departed from Skaug in the direction of the shipwreck. Using the remaining of the pressure capsules and waterbreathing spells to allow Rickard to breathe underwater. They got to the shipwreck and explored it. They found that there was multiple bodies that seemed to have decayed, but Ivinka found they weren't in as bad as state as they should be after four years. All the bodies showed to have some symbol or insignia representing Valkur.

All these bodies remained still until Rex and Kingswell had Herman attempt to open one of the chests they found on  The Wooden Cutlass. At that point, they all rose and moved towards the chests' location attacking those nearby. This resulted in Kingswell and Rex being swarmed by a group of undead sailors. Ivinka noticed that some of them weren't able to swim and just sank to the bottom, so she informed her party of it and recommended them to swim  up. Kingswell used his newfound abilities to transport Rex and himself near Ivinka and away from the swarm, then Rickard used his horn of Valhalla to summon spirits and aid them in their battle. Rex cast psychic scream on the group of undead allowing the berserkers to get rid of them while they stayed afar. In the meantime, Sorrel was having a fantastic duel with an undead sailor from who he tried to steal. Afterwards, he went and hid to observe the battle as well. Once they had gotten rid of the sailors, Sorrel began to search for shiny items and found a bag of gems. Unbeknownst to him, there was still an opponent waiting in the shadows, and it attacked Sorrel from behind. The party quickly gathered and defeated the last enemy. They then took what they found to be valuable on the shipwreck, then returned to The White Sparrow.

Upon returning to the ship, Kingswell Cooper noticed his uncle Daniel B. Cooper was nowhere to be seen. However, a Letter from Uncle Deebs had been left for him.

Finally, the party returned to Hawthorne and Kingswell took care of paying daily worship to Umberlee. They brought the Hand of Umberlee to Blank and it was placed in the All-Faith Temple. Among the treasures, the party also brought back Gulp and Gulpy who are patiently waiting for the promised Underwater District to be built.
