Marlina is the daughter of Ezmeralda, her mother died before she gave birth, the necromancer Cultists from The Forsaken Chambers raised and experimented on her, Marlina grew up in the dungeon as a dead Elf, which makes her a Banshee but she also lives because of the necromatic magic that was used on her when she was still a fetus.

Marlina's lower jaw was ripped apart in an experiment, after they finished experimenting on her, the Cultists trapped her in a pocket of the Ethereal Plane inside the dungeon.

The Forsaken Chambers

Shrok'lakelev arrived at Marlina's prison, they managed to defeat the Ethereal Filcher that was guarding her, Janes used Thieves' tools to cut her chains and free Marlina.

Because of her dismembered jaw, Marlina couldn't thank the group, or even explain her story, she decided to follow them on the Ethereal Plane, as thanks she would use the necromatic magic that keeps her alive as a Banshee and revive a fallen member of the party. Killing her in the proccess, finally reuniting her with Ezmeralda in death.
