Rion Vennan is a relatively young half-elf. He stands at 5’ 11” and has light olive skin. He has long fine black hair that is usually keeps in either a ponytail or bun. He is always dressed in fine but unostentatious clothing and keeps his sigil of Kol Korran pinned on his chest for all to see.

Rion is the third child of Alalaern and Sathea Vennan, born in Ultner 27 years ago. As a member of the aristocratic Vennan family, Rion grew up as witnessing the decline of his family’s standings. His father, a minor member Ultner Chewick Line, had more failure than success in his business proceedings. At the age of 16, Rion’s parents had decided to send him to a Kol Korran seminary under the pretense that this would be the best for his eduction. Rion knew that his family simply couldn’t afford to continue paying the costs of his boarding school education, and that this was a cheaper option.

Rion was shipped off to Ostenfeld and began his new life as an acolyte of Kol Korran. His studies included more business and diplomacy courses than theology, but Rion took to all his classes well. Rion excelled at oratory, and this performance teacher realized his potential and began teaching him bardic magics. He took to this training naturally, leading him to receive top marks in his schooling. At 21, Rion took the vows of Kol Korran, not because of any particularly strong devotion, but because he saw it as a means achieve success and bring some prestige back to his family name. Afterward, Rion was made an assistant to Alana Marcon, an Ultner Chewick Line representative.

Alana recognized Rion’s skills and gave him progressively more complex and demanding tasks. Rion quickly went from lowly assistant to valuable asset of the Prelacy. In his first 3 years as a cleric, Rion achieved a number of high profile successes. He was able to mediate a contentious feud between major families of the Neahdar Network, he uncovered a questionable weapons racket brought it to the attention of the Council (mostly because they were skimming off the top of their profits and not giving the Council its ‘fair’ share), and served as representative of Kol Korran during an important set of trade negotiations that the Obandach Mills were conducting. Members of the Council were quickly coming to see Rion as an agent they could dispatch to resolve all manner of problems, and because he was a member of clergy he had and air of neutrality that helped when addressing conflicts.

By 27, Rion was used to being sent from guild to guild, helping address whatever issues they had. While always an outsider, he could charm his way into the good graces of all he met, and consequently he could find whatever info he needed in the process. His skills and reputation finally lead him to being dispatched to Ambergris. The council wished to ensure that its hold on Ambehgris remains firm, and as such they wished to have an agent there that look after its interests.
