The company spokespeople constantly issue assurances of safety, but the plant has repeatedly polluted the local environment. It's responsible for contaminating soil, illegally dumping chemicals into the river, exposing workers to unsafe conditions, and more.
On the other hand, the Union Chemical Plant is one of the largest employers in the city. That makes it difficult for the humans to crack down on them. Magical kitties, however, don’t have this problem.
