Then
Formerly known as Findelwyn in the Forests of Fen'Tural, Fidel Álvaro once led the simpler life of a carpenter among the firbolg people. But Findelwyn had died long ago—back when his kin were burned out of their sacred groves by the Paladian army.
As a war refugee, he first fled to a Calindran city. There, Fidel Álvaro was born a beggar in the street, and a friend to none but the pigeons and rats. At his worst, he was without possessions, save for the clothes on his back, a carving knife, and a wooden idol of his numen: Dorios, deity of the arts.
One fateful day, a guild of shipwrights—fellow worshipers of Dorios—found the dying firbolg half-baked on the harbor boardwalk. After miraculously nursing Fidel back to being, the shipwrights' guild offered him a career among them, as they had been impressed by the sculpting talent on his wooden idol. As if Dorios had answered his prayers, it was a golden opportunity that Fidel could not refuse.
Now
Fast forward decades later, Fidel Álvaro had become a masterful shipwright. His name informs the social circles of several great merchant companies, as well as the high-ranked commissioners for the Calindran navy.
But much to Fidel's recent horror, a swindler was discovered within the ranks of his guild. A runaway guildsman was found doing business with "the Darian rebels", selling Fidel's navy-commissioned designs behind his back. Eager to find the thief and to retrieve the stolen designs, Fidel had no choice but to go to Daria and get his hands dirty.
