Lancetide Municipal Government

Municipal Government

The Lancetide Municipal government is headed by the mayor of Lancetide, who oversees the court as well as The City Guard of Lancetide.

Elections are held every five years to select a new Mayor. The Mayor then decides on front-bench councillors who will serve alongside them during their five year term.

There are 50 seats in the council chambers and each councillor gets a vote on legislation.

Structure

The government has a relatively flat structure, but is presided over by the Mayor. Most members have the title of Councillor, but there are also several key roles in the running of the city, each appointed by the Mayor. These sit on the front benches of the council chambers:

  • Treasurer: oversees the city's finances
  • Councillor for Education: charged with running the city's various educational establishments
  • Councillor for Housing and Planning: is in charge of general city maintenance and building works.
  • Councillor for Justice: presides over the courts of Lancetide, overseeing the judiciary in Duke Street Courthouse.
  • Councillor for Parks and Recreation: maintains the city parks and natural areas, and is responsible for festivals and events
  • Councillor for Security: is always the same person as the Captain of the Guard
  • Councillor for Trade: manages the city's relationship with business and trade with other cities and nations
  • Councillor for Transport: oversees maintenance and building of roads and canals.
  • Councillor for Waste and Health: manages the sewers as well as the city's health initiatives

Each of the named front-bench councillors appoints another councillor to be their deputy.
