The plains north and south of Claystone Lake. Most of the villages within make a living on small cash crops; near the northern coast, much sugar cane is grown, which is refined into molasses and most often sold to Orisaarland, for the production of their famous rum.

The twin mountain ranges of The Montaignes and Athos Highlands create a funnel for the northeasterly winds that bring rains, concentrating them as the clouds reach Barcel Bay. As a result, much of this vale is exceedingly wet for most of the year.

Midvale is called the Vale of No Return in Orchalannon, for those who are badly dishonored are sent west on errantry, stripped of their rank until such a time as they have earned redemption. This, a rare result.

Hidden Caves

Much of northern Midvale is calcareous grassland, with great spans of limestone deposits deep beneath the chalk.

It is not commonly known, there is an extensive network of caves throughout the limestone.

Students of the occult know it as Dugi Mrak, the long dark. Although broken in places by sinkholes, the caves of rathad creagach (as it was once known to the now-extinct Sandringer-descended Sedgemoorlanders) is an otherwise complete web of caves in which one could walk from Moritoan Coomb to Barcel Bay.
