This is a dnd campaign set in a homebrew world. The only race in The Kingdom is human but some have been cybernetically enhanced and others have evolved strange traits. This is a world of citadels, high tech strongholds that act as fortresses and homes to powerful family Houses.

The minor Houses owe their allegiance to a Baron who in turn has to answer to the king. Technology is under the control of the dominant religion known as The Society of the Bond.

Culturally, The Kingdom lives in the shadow of an ancient, advanced civilisation that is said to have destroyed itself by spinning out of balance with nature. Controlling the use of tech is therefore an important part of the belief system by which the world is governed.

Technology, pollution, and magic are frowned upon and seen as unnatural. All three are controlled and monitored by The Society of the Bond the official religion and some say instrument of the king. The society also controls access to knowledge and to the great archive at Bond Tower where all kinds of information about magic and tech is stored. It can only be seen by members of the society who work in the relevant order and correct office.

It is The Society of the Bond that has given the king and the king alone, access to life extension technology that has allowed him to rule for over two hundred years. King Reton Carnhold, is increasingly part machine, his crown can never be removed, actually being a cybernetic implant created by the Society and plugged directly into his brain. 

The world is a mix of modern tech like anti-gravity drones and The Network and medieval political structures, oppression and violence.

Energy Shields have made laser guns redundant for all but hunting and dealing with the monsters that stalk the earth. Warriors have reverted to using ancient martial weapons but ones with technological innovations like flame thrower swords or spears with spring loaded blades. It is also a world of armour rigs that allow users to wield Colossal Weapons.  These warriors also ride Giant Steeds of various types as The Society of the Bond demand that technological use is kept to a minimum to preserve the balance with nature that is at the heart of the Bond. 

Fertility rates have dropped dramatically, and the world is Sparsely Populated – in the wild places between citadels and settlements all kinds of monsters and strange creatures stalk the land.

Peace between the Houses currently holds but tensions are running high and there are those who believe war is on the horizon.
