Veran - also known as the Green God, the Breath of Creation and the Harvester - is a god mentioned in Viktor Welsh's 'Lost Gods' book.
They present as an orc with mossy hair, sharp antlers and one arm stripped of necrotic flesh. They usually wear a black shroud and dark green leaves and they weald a jagged, mossy scythe.
They are associated with nature, fertility, death, disease, herbalism, medicine, growth, roads, travelling and farming. Prayers to Veran used to be said at birth and death before the Severing. Ornaments that would represent them would be hung in farmhouses, hospitals, mortuaries and any rural places. They were seen as the Liminal one, guiding the soul as you crossed boundaries.
Whilst Veran was worshipped, there are few mentions of them in myths, mostly because they were seen as the most serious about their work and their association with death and disease would repel worshippers in case their worship would get their attention. However, the main myth that involves Veran was a love story between two orcs called Kam and Feran.

Kam was a herbalist and worshipper of Veran. One day, his lover Feran died of an unknown disease. Kam spent many years trying to determine the cause and Veran appeared to him and asked why their shrines had been left unattended and he had instead been at this grave. Kam explained the situation and Veran took pity. They turned the orc into mushrooms - often still called Kamcaps to this day - which when prepared would cure the disease.
