Stellaris Calothrix (aka Stella) was born and raised in Nibenay. Her clan of Dray was involved in all aspects of building in the city, from trading materials to actual construction and artisan work. Stella and her wife, Claire, worked as artisans, with Claire doing stonework for buildings and Stella doing woodwork. Though both were good at their jobs, they tried to stay under the radar due to their side work: smuggling escaped slaves through Nibenay. They took advantage of the many large shipments for their supplies and the expectation of dray being involved in slave trading to safely pass people through the city and on to various settlements of freed slaves. They worked with a network of other individuals who opposed the slave trade.
Stella and Claire had little involvement with the Veiled Alliance in Nibenay despite similar ideals, as the Nibenese Veiled Alliance contact tended towards isolation; as a result, Stella thinks that the Veiled Alliance is a lot of nice words and very little action. She has been trying to convince her colleagues that just because Nibenay is seemingly nicer and more cultured than other cities doesn't mean the people should accept the status quo; things can and should be better.
A few months ago, Stella and Claire were arrested while helping escaped Raamite slaves. Stella and Claire fought and were captured making time for the former slaves to get away. They were separated; Stella was sent up to be imprisoned outside Raam and hasn't seen Claire since, though she assumes her wife has been imprisoned in Nibenay.
