Material Plane

Iralas is the common name for the Prime Material Plane as perceived by those living in it. Its flow of time is, by definition, 1rt: one hour of time spent in Iralas has an rt (real-time equivalent) of one hour.

A Quick Guide to Iralas

As every fantasy setting tends to be a pastiche, these are some quick pointers to get a feel for what countries and regions are like. Note that this is from the perspective of Erenen; Dorwin would not label itself 'Evil Empire', and would view Erenen as 'backwater meddlers'.

  • Aregrionno: Fantasy Italy, with noble houses spying and betraying each other.
  • Azzazuum: Fantasy Africa: Deserts, jungles, and the unknown.
  • Dorion: A free, ex-slavery fledgling tribal nation.
  • Dorwin: Evil medieval empire, inspired by the Holy Roman Empire with a bit of Dark Souls thrown in.
  • Eimrar: Dwarven home nation; rugged and mountainous, with enormous dwarven cities underground.
  • Elleseand: High Elf home state. A bit like modern-day Israel; isolated and small, and not afraid to use their advanced (magical) technology to punch above their weight and stop any threat to their existence before it pops up.
  • Erenen: Multi-cultural crossroads of the world.
  • Gandortal: Country torn between organized religion and naturalistic tradition. Mediterranean.
  • Helladris: Halfling nation: The Shire times ten.
  • Imland: Backwater frontier, Slavic and Germanic inspired (Think Witcher series). Once housed mighty empires, but has been forgotten by time, the passage of the centuries eating away at its power. It's now just a collection of City-States that control regions such as Sumpfland and Westal. Old-school D&D inspired: the wilderness is unknown and dangerous, magic is feared, people live simple lives in the dirt.
  • Karkarand: An ancient empire fallen into ruin: Here, the Orcs were once scholars, wizards, and lords. The Fall has left the continent mostly abandoned, and now monsters and magical storms ravage the land. Who knows what is left behind from that great age.
  • Norfell: A cold northern region, with Dwarves, Orcs, and Humans. Think Skyrim, vikings etc.
  • Ashar: Refuge of the Tieflings.
