Finrimbel

Finrimbel, the Lord of the Sun, is usually associated with concepts of light, justice, and fire. He is commonly called the Radiant Sun, the Eternal Light, the Golden Lord.

Finrimbel is often represented in human form as a golden-haired, regal-looking man with piercing blue eyes. He is associated with the eagle, a symbol of nobility and strength, and is linked to the sun and its warmth and light.

Worship

To worship Finrimbel is to worship justice, righteousness, light, and fire. As such, there are many orders of paladins and clerics that worship Finrimbel, devoting their lives to doling out judgment on those who would break the law, threaten innocents, or prey on the weak. Prayers to Finrimbel are usually accompanied by the burning of incense and oak branches.

Finrimbel holds a special place in the process of judgment of crimes; in ages past, courtrooms would hold a special pit in which a fire would be lit, with oak firewood and special incense and powders. Those truly innocent would not be burned by the flames when exposed to it; the guilty would burn. In recent years, this practice has fallen in popularity.

Finrimbel is commonly worshipped through the use of sunlight and fire, with devotees lighting candles or torches in his honor.

Finrimbel attracts clerics of the Light and Order domains. His paladins tend to be of Glory and Redemption.

Shrines

There are many shrines to Finrimbel all over Iralas. These shrines tend to be lit by brass lanterns and braziers, which are usually under a spell that prevents them from being extinguished by natural means. Those who pray at these shrines are said to be filled with a sense of righteousness and hope.

Temples

Temples of Finrimbel tend to be fairly simple, with sparse furniture and decoration. The interior tends to be built from stone, oak and copper details.

Rituals

The concepts of 'fire' and 'light' return in rituals involving Finrimbel; it is said that those truly repentant of their sins should burn as many material possessions as possible, symbolically sending them to Finrimbel in hopes of receiving His forgiveness.

Holy Days

Finrimbel's holy day takes place on the first day of the month named after him. This day, named Lux Finrimbel, is celebrated as the start of spring, and tends to involve huge bonfires all over the city.
