Session Thirteen

The group awoke after an unrestful night and were met by Jalester soon enough, who awkwardly informed them that they would not be going to Castle Waterdeep as previously expected; instead, they were to travel to Piergeiron’s Palace and deliver their report directly to his superior.
Said superior turned out to be Laeral Silverhand, the Open Lord herself; Jalester sheepishly explained that he was her field agent, tasked with investigating threats to the city.
Threats such as demon incursion, it turned out.
Between the confessions of the captured cultists, Jalester’s findings, and the party’s own accounts, Silverhand was able to determine that their service to the city far outstripped any harm they might have caused. With that in mind, she tasked them with finishing what they had started: investigating the tunnel they’d learned of, and finding what remained of Basil Mureal.
Exploring the tunnel, they killed two birds with one stone. Mureal’s remains—the babau that had come from him, or that he had perhaps turned into—was there, industriously excavating century-old tunels that led into the city.They attacked, drawing it and the three dretches assisting it into combat, and emerged victorious once again, deep below the city.
