Tribes of aarakocra settled the rocky spires of the Highland Bluffs as early settlers of Havilon. Most aarakocra now hail from here, where they have a working relationship with the dragonborn of the Eastern Sunlands, which lies just south-east past the Great Chain. The aarakocra and the dwarf serve as the first line of defense against invading orc tribes from the most northern regions of Havilon, and the tribes have a mercantile relationship with the adventurous tabaxi who often settle the lower levels of the Highland Bluffs.

An aarakocra can resemble almost any bird creature. The different kinds are often in their own tribes, such as a tribe of owl aarakocra or a tribe of parrot aarakocra. However, all aarakocra are six-limbed; two legs, arms, and wings.

As with much of their speech, aarakocra names include clicks, trills, and whistles to the point that other peoples have a difficult time pronouncing them. Typically, a name has two to four syllables with the sounds acting as connectors. When interacting with other races, aarakocra may use nicknames gained from people they meet or shortened forms of their full names.

Aarakocra reach maturity by age 3 and don't usually live longer than 30 years. They are about 5 feet tall with very little body mass and appear thin with a weight between 80 and 100 pounds.

The most common aarakocra tribes resemble an eagle, falcon, hoatzin, magpie, owl, parrot, peacock, raven, or vulture.

A tribal people with a love of the skies, they fluctuate between favoring Thrizur and Draconiz in equal measure from tribe to tribe.
