The party met back up in Roanokae to speak with Vine-Cutter Brekkan, the elderly catfolk from before, so named for helping to quell parasitic negative-energy vines in youth. Upon getting approval, a letter, and vague directions to the forest city of Sunnyside near the tree he wished to see, the party set off, running into Tryz (w/hyena pup Rik) and rescuing a quiet village catfolk from a stampede on the way.
After saving a vine-ridden moose, they found the forest similarly choked. Sunnyside's leadership allowed them to help search the far-off Bibliotheca for a way to stop it, and eventually they did uncover a variety of mostly-helpful info, employed with the assistance of Tryz's old flame Zatshu, an acolyte of the Radiance. They reached the heart of the vines, and discovered a fragment of the Orange Knight there. The knight explained that the last piece of the puzzle was a ritual Brekkan had helped to conduct, a positive variant of Blight. Thus, the party sent Zatshu off to help Tryz recover from a stupor before defending the ritualists, Vhel and the knight, for 8 hours, successfully withstanding the vines' assault and destroying them once more. The knight absconded before their attacker appeared, a shadowy fey creature who had planted the vines for status among her peers. Tylmae successfully convinced the creature, Woods Dimpletwinkle to seek fame with The Scry instead.
Vhel was able to record the process of the ritual, which could come in handy if such corruption is ever encountered again.
In the morning they retrieved some life-giving fruit from the positive tree, and returned to the library to update their records, meeting Brekkan's old ally Osru. After delivering the letter to a 2nd ally, Garreth, everyone parted ways and the party returned to show Brekkan the tree.
