Lady Vesper

The Candescent, the Golden Baroness, the Custodian, She Who Defies Death, the Sun of the Evening
NPC

Vesper is a Hesperid Lady under Aseron. She rules over Avilion, and she is in a conflict with her brother Lord Attys, who controls Eleutheria. Not much is known about her or her Golden Barony.

A mesmerising woman that seems to be faintly glowing in the shadow of the boughs. Her hair is elaborate, flowing gold with apple blossoms swirling between strands; it is both carefully shaped and frivolous at the same time, as it sways in the updraft, and seems to shift towards the warmer reds and darker blues at the ends, before fading out of perception. Large, ethereal butterfly wings sprout from her back, but aren't physically connected to her body; they swirl with blues, pink, and yellows. A skin-tight, backless, beige dress flows down onto the ground, where it behaves similarly to her hair. There is a faint, sparkling mist around her entire being.

Lady Vesper was first encountered during the quest A House of Cards

She was also invited for the First Landing's First Annual Lunar New Year Tournament in First Landing, which she attended with her brother Lord Attys and their superiors, AseronLord Asculith, and Svetlana Skullcrusher.

Being a Hesperid Queen, Lady Vesper is tied to the land that she governs. To travel outside of the Golden Barony without suffering the consequences of her separation from her bound domain, she employs an elaborate construction of nature and magic.

Commotion from the western side of town. Murmurings and worried whispers, as the skies grow darker, and clouds choke them. Surely not another eclipse?! And now, these skies come down to walk through the streets. Thick, fluffy clouds roll over the ground like waves of mist, parts of them slowly forming into a cavalcade of vaguely equine shapes. A dark figure, equally vague and undefined, appears to be directing them forward.

Stars glimmer and glisten just in the corner of one's perception. The sky is back to normal, unless one places this procession within one's view, and then all one sees is evening, the death of the day, the birth of the night.

More shapes emerge from the clouds - beautiful women with flowing hair, beings made of rain that never ends, dancing their sorrowful waltz. More figures - aquatic humanoids the size of a child, with large eyes, catfish-like whiskers, webbed fingers and toes, scaly skin, pointed ears, and long hair the color of seaweed. They skitter forward, chattering among themselves in a whispered, hushed manner, as if trying to attract the least amount of attention. Then, there are bats. Swarms of them, first mist-like and ethereal, then corporeal, and among them, Nykteras dressed in formal, shining, light-woven attires.

The main, leading figure churns, as if shedding the many layers of stormy, dark clouds.

Plants creep out from this piece of heavens, heralding the appearance of Dryads, elegant and graceful, bedazzled by golden fruits, and they join the dance of the rain-women.

Then, more fluttering of wings, and invisible creatures join the parade - at least, invisible when lurking in certain parts of First Landing. Some of them fade out of view when in the shadow, others disappear when basking in sunlight.

The leading figure starts shimmering as rays of brilliance find their way through the clouds. A chrysalis, ready to burst open and reveal something terribly beautiful, something mercilessly glorious. Finally, the sweet release. The chrysalis erupts, and colours pour out in a dazzling display, swaying like strands of fabric, like tresses of flowing hair, like shimmering auroras.

This way, Lady Vesper brings a literal chunk of her physical domain with her whenever she leaves Avilion, circumventing the issues associated with a Nymph being separated from their bonded area of the natural world.
