Thrumming pylons of electro-solar-magickal dynamism adorn the gardens of the Coimos Isles, drawing the very essence of the plant life they surround into basins of pure distilled vitality. Used primarily to fuel the ever growing city-state of Kaeith, much is still unknown about the potential for advancement from this primeval life force.

Many academics wish to innocuously research deeper into the effects of this untapped power in pursuit of a deeper understanding of the esoteric energy bolstering everything in their curious lives, so they may take care to not abuse what they do not yet know. Some nevertheless have less noble goals in mind. They plot, machinate, and experiment covertly to further their own ambitions; economical wealth, political achievement, lust and love, otherworldly weapons, and to upset the balance of all things living: immortality.

“What do you mean you want to attune these devices to run tests on people?!” Chief Researcher Elyon exclaimed, astounded by the idea just suggested to her, but continuing to check on the greenery around her. “We can do it in a controlled environment, and it will allow us to study the long-term eff-” cutting Apprentice Caeda off, Elyon interjected. “And how do you expect to get permission from the Council for this?!” Caeda proceeded to calmly propose. “Well, if you could discuss the merits of this work, and that we could use prisoners-” Elyon now uneasy by the concept no longer wished to entertain the notion of it. “No. This isn’t the first mad thought you’ve had, and if I hear about yet another one I’ll have to raise your sanity with the Council instead.” Nodding, Caeda walked off to contemplate, deciding this would not stop her and she would work on her theories another way if necessary.

Despite strict sanctions outlawing certain types of study, those eager enough to push the boundaries of both the law and of reality allow their thirst for the unknown to thrust them forward as they endeavour to usher in a new era of enlightenment.

It would be absurd to deny what incredible feats of invention have already come from such study into the strange; including the pylons that are able to somehow self-sustain themselves, the tram networks now connecting nations granting improved trade and travel, or the fields radiating the cities providing protection and enriched growth.

It has been about three centuries since the revelation of magick re-entering the world, and there is still so much more to be explored… Let us hope caution is exercised.
