Session 8
1000 Riotous carnage in the city of Deythorpe. The Autux Festival, which had started with such joy and merriment, descended into death and destruction.
The Kraken Slayers (minus Niik) encountered a Unknown
Lord Mattius Argus Jr was sent to find Niik.
Uthal and Zaya Flich scaled buildings near the construct. Zaya doing so without attracting the attention of the windmill. She also discovered there were beings in inside but was unable to properly communicate this to her friends.
Uthal then performed a powerful leap into the building and disappeared from sight.
Zaya narrowly avoided being crushed as the building she was on was destroyed by the windmill. She leapt from the rooftop and stylishly swung down the leg of the monstrosity.
Auralie used her quick wits to create a tripwire across the street and distracted the windmill with some eldritch blasts.
On the Parade Square, Niik carried his halfling captive to The Lords Arms where he found six dead and two scared waitresses. He proceeded to intimidate and then persuade Brenda to give up information on the cult. He confirmed that Yendriel and Clifford Preston IV were both involved in the cursed food, although Brenda herself was only distributing the food and had no knowledge of its production. He also discovered that they had a plan to do the same in Griffonford and possibly other locations.
Meanwhile, Jr had made his way through Deythorpe to the inn where he found Niik and told him of the windmill.
In the windmill, Uthal encountered an irritating Wisp. He also found some single-minded Zombies who were controlling the windmills’ sails and who seemed unconcerned when he smashed some holes in the floor around them.
Auralie and Zaya were battered by the windmill with Zaya performing a daring dragging rescue as Auralie continued to fire bolts of eldritch energy at the windmil even whilst being dragged along.
Unfortunately the windmill was too strong to be snared by the rope trap, but Zaya managed (after a failed attempt) to set on of its legs on fire. Disturbingly, she disclosed that she wanted to watch everything burn...
Niik and Jr arrived at the sight of the chaos. Niik scaled one of the buildings near the windmill and Jr took Big Dog Baska and Little Dog Zeb and tried to teach them to give their paw!
Inside the top of the windmill, Uthal discovered another fanatic of the Cult of Orcus and quickly grappled him before dropping him out the window. The cultist met a gruesome end as he managed to hit all four of the spinning sails before plummeting 60ft to the flagstones below.
Auralie managed to get into the windmill but was shocked into unconsciousness by the Wisp! Uthal then used his brute strength to pull a glowing dagger from the heart of the windmill which stopped it moving. Niik and Zaya then made it into the windmill, brought Auralie back from the brink of death and dispatched the zombies.
The team had a lovely bonding session and became closer. They also identified the dagger as the Carnwennan, the legendary dagger of the First King and one of the Relics of the First King.
Lt Bartrum then arrived with a small force and there was much cheering and merriment that the windmill had been defeated!
1100 As the party had a long rest in the afternoon they were visited by a strange Wise Old Man in their dreams and seemed to gain in power... (Level 5!)
