Dexter is an offspring of Zeus and a mortal woman, a prophetess of the Theoi and owner of Marquis of Carabás, a local pub in Chicago known by some local legendary creatures. To avoid persecution by Zeus and possibly other gods, as the prophetess broke the law to bore a child, she pleaded to the gods, and she received an answer.

Hera and Ares made a bet to transform her child into a cat to see if he would be worth to have his curse broken. What Fate could have been reserved for him?

In time, Dexter became a talking cat that was drawn to solve mysteries of the city, always getting into trouble and dealing with the divine and supernatural.

Book 1: The World Awakens

Dexter was drawn to Alexander Zhao through Fate. He saw that this person was a Scion from a distant god, and would be responsible to be a respectable leader for the divine in the city. He helped him deal with the mysteries behind the Red Hand and the Ordo Aureum Aurora, and entered in his Band. Dexter was a fearsome ally and cunning warrior.

After the Band fought the vampires from Red Hand in the incident of the Codex Draco Rubrum, although they couldn't stop Wellington Reis from completing his ritual to summon a dragon and shatter the Ley Line veils from Chicago, Dexter picked the attention from Ares.

Ares chose to break his curse and adopt him as his Scion, giving back his human form, but making him a soldier, stronger than ever before. Dexter became forever bound to be Ares' soldier, fighting in his name for his mysterious plans.

A New Age Dawns

Dexter became a soldier of fortune, fighting in conflicts around the world, commonly in Africa and the Middle East. Ares gave him some quests and missions: kill some guys here and there, help another soldiers here and there, etc.

Dexter traveled the world, but now is back to Chicago as Fate puts him at the Band's crossroads again. He sensed some new awakened Scions are in need of his protection.
