“We have found new ways to weaponize curiosity. Pathways into the darkness.”

Warrior-scholars of the Light, Warlocks devote themselves to understanding the Traveler and its power. A Warlock’s mind is an arsenal of deadly secrets, balanced between godhood and madness. On the battlefield, those secrets can shatter reality itself.

Warlocks were the first to tap the power of the Traveler, wielding its light as they ventured beyond the safety of the City’s walls. They know each discovery offers new possibilities, and they have devoted themselves to understanding the Traveler, its power, and how to better channel that power. They search the frontier to find a means to defeat the Darkness once and for all.

Warlocks are known for pushing the boundaries of knowledge, even into dangerous territory. At least two warlocks, Toland the Shattered and Osiris, have been exiled for studying the Hive and Vex too closely.

The Warlock representative on the Vanguard is Ikora Rey, a former understudy of Osiris. She is a master of all Warlock disciplines, and was the undisputed champion of the Crucible for years.

Sunsinger

A young Warlock travels to her mentor, seeking the truth of the Praxic Fire. A wildfire rages in a valley nearby. Her mentor points to the billowing smoke, saying, "This is the Praxic Fire. Go, and learn what you can."

And the student returns to her teacher, saying, "Master, the fire does not ask, the fire acts. That is the truth."

Her mentor laughs, and the flames leave the sky from the valley and surround the teacher, and the wind blows the smoke away.

The old Warlock, now wreathed in flame with great outstretched wings, says, "The heart of the Praxic Fire is the Warlock. Without the Warlock, fire does not ask or act. Be the fire, or be smoke on the wind."

The cowering student stands, her palms closing into fists.

At the crescendo of their songs is Radiance, a transcendent state where the Warlock's body overflows with Light. In recent times two new songs have begun to be penned; the aerial-fighting Dawnblade and support-oriented Well of Radiance.

Voidwalkers

"The Traveler came out of the void that surrounds all things. Thus we know that the void is full of power. Thus we enter the void without fear. Small minds will call your abilities blasphemous. They will compare you to the abominable Wizards of the Hive."

"But you will not be held back. Gifted with the Traveler's Light, armed with the secret physics of a lost age, you will tear reality asunder. You will fear nothing, and nothing will not fear you."

— Toland the Shattered

Voidwalkers siphon life energies to power their unnatural abilities, a method other Guardians might not approve of. But these are dire times, and sacrifices must be made.

The most infamous of Voidwalker abilities is the Nova Bomb, an unstable singularity lobbed towards the Voidwalker's enemies, with devastating results. A newer discipline is that of the Nova Warp, where the Warlock uses their body as a conduit for Void energy that surges out from them.
