Broken hearts

Session 61
2021-07-21

Before the group decides to head back up the tunnel, Jak spots a nice big looking augite on the underground riverside. Irdien gives them all her opinion on the group's behaviour down here, emphasising Jak calling her kind slavers and Adrian deciding to stop the runaway drow with his weapons. Adrian defends himself, pointing out that he was acting on Irdiens orders and using the blunt side of his blade. Jak gives her the puppy dog eyes and asks if he must stay down here. Not outwardly forgiving anyone, Irdien starts walking back, and the group follows.
At the Whilerpool, they once again make the trip to the other side. Labrat finds a strong current that propels her with such force that she is flung out of the water and uses her wings to glide back to shore. Adrian brings out Arcus from the portal and lets him tow him over to the other side.
With everyone back and huddling by the campfire for warmth, the evening starts progressing as initially intended. When Sirona gets up and starts walking away, Irdien takes note and follows her. She spots the Aasimar mixing her lavender coloured powder with some water and drinking it. Irdien doesn't confront her about it privetly. Instead, she sneaks back to camp, waiting for Sirona to return, stopping her right before she can climb into her tent, in full view of everyone. She starts asking Sirona about her feelings, prodding a bit until cutting straight through the chase and asking about the powder in her bag. Sirona admits to taking it to stop her nightmares, but as she says that she has noticed no side effects, Irdien decides to drop the topic for now.
The following day they stumble upon a man living in the woods that Jak noticed an old sign of an empire nobleman. After some conversation, it's learned that he hasn't been in the empire for a long time but knows these woods well. He gives recommendations on how the group should continue to get to Bunakinb fast and safe.
The group finds the main road and starts travelling down it meeting merchant caravans almost immediately as this is a heavily trafficked road. One thing becomes abundantly clear very soon, and that is that most merchants are giving Irdien the stink eye, muttering under their breath about her kind.
The group spends the night at a tavern by the road, where Adrian manages to get the best rooms in the establishment for them.

During their overstay at the inn along the road to Bunakinb The party relaxes with drinks. At one point, when Sirona leaves the table, Irdien tries asking the rest if they have noticed anything strange about the Aasimars recent behaviour. The rest of the group are not alarmed. Still, when Irdien presses the subject and reminds Jak of the drugs he introduced to Sirona way back in Eldolan, they start bickering over the freedom to make mistakes and the obligation to help. Finally, Jak stormes out. Reluctantly Irdien follows him. Irdien tries to explain to the bard why she is upset with him, but Jak derails the conversation entirely off by proposing to her, with the found augite. Irdien says that she can't, efficiently breaking Jaks heart and the old goat wisps into the night. Irdien returns inside. After regaining some composure, Irdien confronts Sirona about not helping the drow that almost drowned in the pound. Sirona gets queazy and leaves to retire for the night, but L hugs her first and asks if she needs anything. Sirona begs L to keep an eye out so that Irdien won't steal from her like she seems to do from the guys whenever they have crossed a line. Labrat accepts.
Adrian then shows up looking happy and drunk, asking if they want to join an axe throwing game. Sirona declines and goes to sleep.
