Humans, also called Deshenkind or Deshensons, are a race in El-Bayir. They are the most common race, but also the shortest lived. Among all of the races, humans are the most diverse and adaptable. Despite their short lives, humans are the most dominant global race. Most nations are majority human or at least contain significant human populations. It is estimated that Humans alone constitute 70% of the global population.
Humans were the first race of sentient mortals to be created, with Deshen being both the first Human and the first Beldkind. The first Humans were created before even the Sun was created, and they witnessed the first sunrise as they awoke in the World. This has led them to also be called Children of the Sun.
Humans are generally defined by their diversity, resourcefulness, and ambition. Their short lives create constant cultural flux and evolution, and this is only exacerbated by their diversity and geographical spread. Humans have more subraces than any other race.
Humans come of age at 18 years old and typically live to be 70 to 100 years old.
