Sins of Deshen

Event
First Age During the Age of the Gods

"And Deshen, King of Mankind, looked upon the starry sky, and reached out his holy hand.

The King reached deep into the cosmos with his powerful magicks and pulled from the sky, a single star.

With his own hand, he molded this star, one among millions, into a crown befitting the King of Man.

The Gods recoiled in fear and disgust, for now one of Beld's children could challenge their dominion over Lu'ud.

Beld lamented, for in his infinite wisdom and compassion, he knew this would spell doom for His son and his people."

Excerpt from The Song of the War of the Gods

The Sins of Deshen, also called the Great Blasphemies, were a series of actions undertaken by Deshen, King of Mankind, which angered the Gods and led to the War of the Gods and downfall of Beldkind to mortality.

First Sin

The First Sin was when Deshen pulled a star from the sky and fashioned it into a crown, styling himself the Star-King of Mankind. This sin led to great discord in his realm, most notably causing the Exile of the Elves.

Second Sin

The Second Sin was when Deshen began expanding the borders of the Deshenite Kingdom past the borders that had been given by Beld, expanding into the wilds and felling great forests and mountains to build his cities. He did this as the Elves had been allowed to resettle, which he viewed as an insult to his authority and power.

Third Sin

The Third Sin was when Deshen ordered the construction of the Temple of Deshen in K'deshti. At this point, Deshen began to strongly assert his divinity and demand to be named a God.
