Beld
, also called Y'shar, is the God of Man and Civilization. Beld created the races of Beldkind long ago, forming them from clay and imbuing them with internal fire (souls). His power greatly diminished following the Second Age, Beld spends much of His time traveling the world, experiencing the civilizations of Beldkind and carrying out miracles and acts of charity. Additionally, He frequently imbues pregnant women with the "Touch of Beld", which causes them to have an Aasimar child and gives their family celestial blood. It is unknown how many Aasimar are created through Beld's touch but it is believed to be a substantial proportion of them.

Beld is the child of Bouwen and was among the first Gods created by the Worlshaper upon His awakening. Beld wished for sentient life to appreciate the newborn world, beings with the individual spirits (or souls) of Elohim, and so He crafted a man out of clay and dirt and animated him with a small piece of His own spirit. This man He named Deshen, and He cherished him as His first son. Beld's unsanctioned creation of sentient beings caused the Discord Among the Gods, as many were skeptical or even outright appalled by this violation of Bouwen's will.

Beld married the God Si'ita and through them (with the exceptions of Odion and Kampi) were born the Gods of Mankind.

Beld is unique as He does not require anything from his worshippers. As a good god, Beld's worshippers are generally expected to promote goodness and brotherhood, and to start families, but these expectations are societal and based on the practices of the Order of Beld

Of the Gods, Beld is the most universally worshipped by Beldkind due to His role as their universal patron. His name is frequently invoked in prayers, rituals, and names.

Worship of Beld stresses His benevolence, acceptance, the value of and reverence towards life, kindness, and fairness. However, the Beldic religion is not a purely peaceful religion, and Beldic faith often also stresses strength to protect Beld's children from evil.

Beld is known for His love of cats, it is said that He always has at least one pet housecat, even in His heavenly halls.

When traveling, Beld takes a variety of appearances, but often chooses to clothe himself as a human with a long grey beard, fair skin, a complex muti-layered robe, conical headgear, and a white walking stick.
