The Festering Fowl is an older, homey tavern located in the Nevald District and run by Cormac McHammerface, Seamus McHammerface's uncle, helped by the half elf Leira Stormgallow. The tavern has been in Hymathel for some time, remaining through the restructuring of the Nevald District as a reminder of its past.
Located in the Nevald District, the small, wood-and-stone two-story tavern is surrounded by larger, more artistic and modern elven architecture. The exterior is maintained, but shows signs of age regardless. The shingles of the roof are somewhat worn by years of weather, and bits of moss and crawling vines have claimed ownership over much of the face of the building, including the windows.
The exterior is inviting and cozy, lit dimly by warm, orange candlelight. A wooden bar sits in the center of the back wall, and hundreds of bottles from years of operation line the shelves above the back counter. A few wooden tables stand around the bar, and a small stage sits in the back corner, with a small area around it that seems to be used commonly for dance. Large kegs of ale are stacked along the west wall, near a set of stairs that leads to the second floor. A back storeroom behind the bar is stocked with various spirits and food.
The rooms of the tavern are cozy and warm, but the windows outside have been claimed by vines, forming natural curtains to keep the sun out. The beds are clean enough, but somewhat lumpy from years of use. A small balcony looks over the stage from the second floor.
The bar is well-stocked with a variety of spirits from around Gessaria, but is mostly filled with Sanarian wines and ales.
