Siege of Sanar

Battle

The Siege of Sanar is a major battle that took place in the Great Throne War, and is considered the turning point of the war where the resistance fighters gained the upper hand above the nation of Sanaris and the warriors of the House of Azdragast. Following this battle, the government of Sanaris surrendered to the forces of Seamus McHammerface, Pallam, Falderheim, and the Deadmarch, and the war turned to handle the threat of Betaria.

Before the battle began, a large disinformation campaign was established to provide undue confidence to the forces of Sanaris, spreading rumors that the resistance was disorganized, weak, and beaten. Attempting to capitalize on this perceived weakness, the Sanarian forces led an attack on the Pallamian border, leaving the borders from the Nightspell Moors undefended. The armies covertly advanced towards the capital of Sanar from the Moors, believing the capital to be relatively unguarded. However, the Khymal Set, working with the powerful information broker Eilon Terix, had managed to intercept the Alliance's spy network and attacked their forces from both below and above on the harsh slopes of Mount Sanar, a terrifically fortified position. Hope was lost for a time before the forces of the Deadmarch wiped through the armies in the east and destroyed the southern flank of the Obsidian Guard. Following subsequent victories, the march up the mountain culminated in an all out attack on the city's Inner Ring. The battle raged for 20 days, as the forces of Sanaris rallied and managed to begin pushing the united armies back after breaking taboo and utilizing the power of Palefire. Seamus himself suffered greatly under the palefire, as it tore through his armor and left him heavily wounded. However, with the last minute reinforcements from the Deadmarch and a new suit of armor forged from Dirmsteel for Seamus, the Alliance made a final push, overwhelming the walls of the Inner Ring and taking the capital.

The Siege saw a reunion from the legendary adventuring group the Peas, who led the final push to take the city's center, confronting the leaders of the government in person to "negotiate" the means of their surrender.
