Ark is a tiefling of Shiesia, the younger sister of Journey and the daughter of Unknown. She was once a timid and obedient girl, but after being forced into a pact with the god Xac'huranac she became brash and wild, her mind twisted by the forbidden knowledge she obtained. After having her link the Xac'huranac severed, she became remorseful and quiet, though her contributions to Shiesia are among the greatest reasons for its success.

Description

Ark is a purple tiefling of relatively short stature and frail body. She has two dark, impish horns that emerge from her forehead and a messy mane of dark purple hair that has been dyed black at the ends. She wears a set of pelts covered in dragon paraphernalia such as teeth and scales.

While originally a kind, caring girl, Ark's personality was dramatically altered following the influence of Xac'huranac's knowledge on her mind. She became wild and rude, idolizing the dragon god and seeking to serve his initiative however she could. As of now, she is a calm, distant individual, but she cares deeply for her people, and now sees the folly of Xac'huranac, or so she claims.

Skills and Abilities

Ark is an extremely powerful warlock. She is capable of great feats of magic, and exhibits a particular skill for learning more.

History

Early Life

Ark was born to Unknown and Kosmarir in the village of Shiesia. Lacking any sort of magical power, Ark was ultimately deemed useless by her father, and lived a relatively quiet life with her mother, growing into a very quiet and obedient girl. Ark was known for her kindness to others.

Becoming a Warlock

When the Dracohest arrived in Shiesia in 951 IaC, Ark was chosen to be one of the first women of the village to be converted into a warlock in order to serve the Ozvir and his senile wishes. Xac'huranac's forbidden knowledge twisted Ark's fragile mind, making her rebellious and vindictive. She became close to the leader of the cult's branch in the village, Craxen, and plotted with him to overthrow the Great Sorcerer. Ark eventually seduced the Great Sorcerer with a brilliant display of magic, distracting him long enough so that Craxen could sneak up behind him and cut his throat.

Ark then entered a committed relationship with Craxen as they worked together to subjugate the dissenters in the village, Ark taking particular pleasure in punishing those who treated her poorly in the past. She spent much of her time delving deeper into uncovering Xac'huranac's magical secrets and finding ways to help bring him into the mortal plane.

Fighting the Peas

After the Peas arrived in Shiesia, they almost immediately entered into hostilities with Craxen, quickly resulting in the latter's death. Ark flew into a rage, attacking Phaelnah especially with extreme malice. She was eventually knocked out and bound, though upon waking she was immediately hostile again. Following Ferazir's temper tantrum and the exodus of the Shiesians from the mountain, Ark was bound using special cuffs given to the villagers by some of the Dracohest members that ended up defecting from the cult. In order to attempt to restore her mind, Phaelnah concocted a ritual that would sever a person's ties to a patron, eventually performing it on the girl. Ark became much more reserved after the ritual, though the long term effects remained unclear.

Regaining Powers and Coup Attempt

A couple of years after having her connection with Xac'huranac severed, Ark would continue to make attempts to contact the dragon god in secret while pretending to play innocent with her family. In 953 IaC, Ark would later find success in reconnecting with her god, using her powers to lay waste to a coup attempt against Shiesia. However, the then attempted to subjugate the village into the worship of Xac'huranac, lording over them until her brother Karcius managed to overpower her with the help of his partner Vacklash and brother Valx.

After her second defeat, Ark remained despondent for a time, though her family continued to try and support her reintegration to the village. Ark shirked these attempts for many years out of a mix of shame and anger.

Redemption

In 962 IaC, Ark helped her sister Journey in the construction efforts to vitalize Shiesia. Studying Journey's magical designs awoke a dark knowledge in Ark, and she suddenly gained inspiration into the state of her brother Valdos, who had lost his soul in a Dracohest-related accident many years ago. Ark concocted a ritual to pull Valdos' soul out of the Tearing Planes, where is had been trapped by Xac'huranac's power, but needed a powerful magical conduit to do so, which was in the hands of the Dracohest.

After the conduit's retrieval by Tyerjon, Ark was able to complete her ritual and finally retrieve Valdos' soul, afterwards deciding to try and use her arcane knowledge for the betterment of her people.
