Ferazir

The Savage Frost
NPC

"I care not of the whims of these false progenitors. I am the cold itself...I am a true god!"
- Ferazir, addressing the Peas

Ferazir the Savage Frost is an extremely ancient white dragon, and the patron of Journey's home village. He is massive in size, and commands a terrifying amount of power.

Description

Perhaps due to his power overtaking his physical form, Ferazir is more ice than dragon. He is completely covered in ice that constantly reforms itself as he moves, breaking apart at the joints with cacophonic cracking sounds. He is positively gargantuan in size, with his outstretched body spanning well over 300 feet. He has a pair of horns that join at their ends to form a ridge from the back of his head, as well as a set of 4 piercing blue eyes. His form constantly produces a thick cloud of frosty mist that instantly freezes whatever it lands on.

Ferazir is vain, greedy, selfish, and vicious. He believes himself to be above all others, including the gods.

Skills and Abilities

Ferazir has the ability to show visions to others, such as when he gave Karcius and Valx the vision that set off their quest to find Journey and destroy Zahast.

Ferazir appears to be capable of freely manipulating the cold. His mere presence is enough to cause most creatures extreme pain through the frigid air that he generates, and his casual breath emulates a blizzard. Ferazir has been observed freely generating ice from the air by condensing vapor as well as controlling the ice. His draconic breath attack is capable of freezing the area that it touches into a solid mass, impenetrable by most means.

History

Ferazir assumedly mated with a number of tieflings in the past that went on to found the mountain village of Shiesia. Ferazir then entered a deep sleep under the village, and on rare occasions would communicate to the villagers by giving them visions through his dreams. The magic bloodline that resulted from his tristes with the Shiesians became prized among them due to the fantastic powers they received.

In Iron 951, following an occupation of Shiesia by a cult of the Dracohest, Ferazir became incensed by the constant prayers of the Shiesian people seeking his guidance. He reached out to them with a vision of slaying another dragon and retrieving the tiefling Journey. This prompted 4 tieflings, Karcius, Valx, Valdos, and Kairar to escape the village and fulfill this quest, which resulted in the deaths of two of them. In truth, Ferazir only assigned this quest to them to silence their pleas, anticipating that Journey's arrival would likely lead to the end of the Dracohest's occupation, meaning the pestering would cease.

The Peas eventually arrived in the village and destroyed the leaders of the cult, but eventually had to make their way deep down into the mountain to where Ferazir slept, right at the intersection of three major ley lines. They made their way through a thick carapace of ice that Ferazir had formed around himself, becoming subject to his biting cold as they calibrated a crystal to the ley resonance of the intersection. In order to quickly finished the calibration, they inched closer to Ferazir, who then awoke from his deep slumber. As the crystal finished, Journey distracted Ferazir by appealing to his ego and offering him gifts, which he quickly took. Ferazir gave the party a display of power while lamenting about the foolish "new gods" and recalling a time when he was praised as one himself. As the crystal finished calibrating, Ferazir noticed the crystal on Journey's staff as Malae, flying into a rage as he condemned the tiefling for piecing the dragon back together. Something then teleported the group out as Ferazir unleashed his icy fire, narrowly avoiding certain death.

Ferazir continued to rage after the party's exit, bringing avalanches down across the Bitterfrost Peaks as the villagers ran from their former home.
