The Water Witch
NPC

Tarisi is a demigod that claims to work in service of Fectovarano. She seemingly either believes in or has crafted a prophecy that heavily involves the Peas, and works to see this prophecy fulfilled.

Description

While at one point she appeared as a little girl while possessing Elia, Tarisi generally takes the form of a slender, beautiful woman with fair skin and long, golden hair. She wears a revealing light blue robe that is reminiscent of the robes worn by clergy members of the Church of Fectovarano.

Tarisi is physically mature, but has the temperament of a young child; she has thrown fits when things haven't gone her way. She is single-minded and not terribly bright, which is a terrible combination when paired with her respectable power.

Skills and Abilities

Holding the title of a demigod, Tarisi commands great and terrible powers.

Water Manipulation

In line with her devotion to Fectovarano, Tarisi is capable of freely manipulating water. She can use this ability to augment her movement and attack her enemies. In addition, she is able to transform her body into water at will.

Elemental Summoning

Tarisi appears to be able to summon and control multiple Vesikev at a time, a feat impossible to even the highest devotees of Fectovarano.

Other Skills

Tarisi has been observed commanding the following powers:

  • Possession
  • Flight
  • Enhanced physical strength
  • Scrying

History

Not much is known about Tarisi's origins, but when the party mentioned her to Renbedar Uleshan, he warned them not to anger her, has her wrath has been historically destructive. He also stated that it generally doesn't end well for those she was set her sights on.

At some point, Tarisi sealed the Bottle Demon inside Grognock, forcing him to inflict the half orc with terrible visions of a destructive future.

Recent History

Tarisi was first encountered by the Peas inhabiting the body of Elia after she attempted to drown Eugene Wormtail; after he was saved by the god Gulchax, she flew into a rage and attempted to kill him. The party managed to remove her from Elia's body, and Eugene was able to subdue her for a time using his newfound powers. The party learned of her prophecy, and that Eugene was apparently messing with it simply by being with the party. She was later released by the party.

The party encountered Tarisi again after the rescue of Leadbelly Balnar. She seemed to want to return him to the "shadow lady", as his rescue was against the fate of her prophecy. Becoming frustrated after being unable to land a hit on Leadbelly Fargus, she flew off into the night, stating that the party would "regret this".

For a time, Tarisi didn't meddle with the party much, and it might be assumed that she did so as they were playing into her narrative the way she wished them to. She next encountered the Peas in the underwater temple in Lake Faelance, where she ported in after being distracted by half of the Darkheart. Angered at the two parties working together to oppose her, she attacked them. However, due to a ritual crafted by the Nightseeker, her power was greatly diminished. Through a series of successes against the demigod, the Nightseeker, aided by the Peas and the Darkheart, managed to seal Tarisi into the altar at the center of the temple.

Wander briefly attempted to release Tarisi by striking his dagger against the altar, but received no response.
