Recent History: The Dwarven Kingdom came to an end when the majority of the race set off to explore and colonise the Moon which orbits the planet of Oerth. This project was spearheaded by King Dwain Bluebeard who personally carved the most delicate internal working of the Moon Rocket’s engine, using their mastery of clockwork powered rocketry. The remains of this and other Dwarven technology, along with the rest of the Dwarves’ many clockwork creations, leave the remaining Oerth-bound races scratching their heads in wonder. Whether the Dwarves actually achieved their aim of reaching the Moon or not is impossible to know, but in any case following the Imperial Wars much of their lands, including the former capital city of Veg Darul, were annexed from the Empire by Manzil.

Political Situation: The few remaining Dwarves on Oerth are generally not known for their social abilities, preferring to keep their own company and live their lives seeking perfection in their chosen field. They avoid any kind of politics outside of their traditional clan meeting, which has reduced to a once in twenty-five year event, from the biannual clan meets and crafting celebrations of the past.

Clan leaders continue to be elected on the basis of crafting skill and serve until death. It is not uncommon for a dwarf’s death only to be recorded should they miss three consecutive meetings. This has left some leadership empty due to the reduction in clan numbers and some in limbo as they await the fate of their leaders.

General Description: The Dwarves generally secluded themselves to the mountains along the western border of the Duchy of Mor’koc. Though small in size, the Kingdom put aside any differences with their Imperial Neighbour. By choosing to merge with the Empire they were able to focus on their engineering and technological achievements. In return, the King was granted a position on the Council of Equals firstly, and secondly as a member of the Council of City Governors.

Government: Prior to its collapse the King was elected by the thirteen elector clans selecting from their male members. The government refused to grant any rights to female dwarves in respect of electing their clan leaders; sighting a lack of tradition and craft skills despite offering women no formal schooling in the subject. The King was chosen based on a combination of inter-clan diplomacy and individual crafting skill, which usually resulted in clan elders or leaders being appointed to lead the Kingdom. However, it is not unknown for other factors such as the ownership of mythril mines, or the invention of new technology and military might to influence the election.

Known clans: Clan Störmhammer, Clan Bluebeard, Clan Pivovar

Troll Empire: The Dwarves were once allies of the Empire, growing close over time as they accepted membership of the Council of Equals. They stood with the Empire against their enemies in the Southlands and during the Theuban Affair. The Empire in return gifted the Dwarves with the flying island of Trollopolis which once served as their capital. It was quickly discovered this island contained 90% of the known mythril mines on Oerth. This island was renamed Thamragh and following a colossal attack led by the Great Golden One in 2A 9993 was lost to the Kingdom of Manzil.
