Life in Nejiro
Trained as a yojimbo, Tetsuo has spent most of his time since his Gempukku protecting the shrines of Nejiro. Taking an interest in the older scrolls, poems, and works of his clan’s scholars, Shinano chose to protect some of the scholars and their libraries, even if the posts were slightly less prestigious. During his long days in the cold his cheeks would turn a bright red, leading to his nickname. Along with his slightly stocky stature, he became a recognizable samurai, even when armored.
Controlled, smart, and astute, Tetsuo did well as the “strong but silent” type. But he was never very adept, neither in a court nor in the social world. As such, he always struggled to express and impress. When Mirumoto Kei swept his affection at his gempukku, Tetsuo sought to win her heart, and began to write to her. Using his knowledge of the old poetics, he found courage in the words of others.

Assignment to the Magistrates

Tetsuo never saw himself going into politics any more than necessary for his standing; he was a poor public speaker, after all. But perhaps his perceptive tone and stoic attitude would serve him well in the service of the Emperor. Thankfully, Tetsuo was well connected enough within the Shiba to pull down an assignment to the Magisterium.
Right away, he would be shipped to join a ring of magistrates in Ryoko Owari. The fast pace and loud character of the city would come as a shock, but Tetsuo would not let the others see his hesitation. He would represent his family well, and do his patrons proud.
