Previous Commander of the White Lions in Korth, (and therefore ran the city, given that it is under marital law). Famed for participating in every major battle of The Last War.
The party first met him when framed for murder in KA02. The Tower of the Twelve. Thaurum recognised their innocence, yet used their accused status as bind to force them to work for him. He commanded the party to stop the undead siege on the Tower of the Twelve, with assistance from Cleric Boyden.
He was pleasantly surprised by their success, and next sent them on an assassination mission to kill Lithri the Smiter (KA03. The Cutting of the Claw) - again, using cunning to help his cause, by using Remora d'Lyrandar's imminent execution as a incentive to succeed (i.e. by promising to free her).
Thaurum was again surprised by the party's success in assassinating Lithri. He promised them another mission in the future, this time for more gold. A few weeks later, they learnt from King Kaius III himself that Thaurum was on a mission to stop Erandis Vol merging Dolurhh with the material plane, and had requested the parties help. When the party joined him, they learnt he was to use them as bait to draw the enemy away from Vol, so he could personally attack her.
Thaurum managed to defeat Vol in time to stop the merge of planes. However, in doing so, Vol managed to instil the Mark of Death on Thaurums chest. This gave her some degree of power over his actions, and allowed him to raise corpses as undead. He was sent half-mad by this and had to be subdued. On return to Korth, he was taken away, his fate now unknown (see KA05. Worlds Collide / KA01-05. Epilogue).
