Elias Minch

Shifter Monk
Player Character

Elias Minch. Odd name for a shifter, yes? Elias is an orphan, with nothing but hazy memories of his parents. He was named Elias by the monastery he was taken to, and Minch from the family that took him there. Elias is a child of war time, and the story as he knows it is not even an unusual one for a time of war. Is his story true? Well, that’s another story.

The boy who would be named Elias was born to a small nomadic tribe of shifters that roamed the Towering Woods. One fateful day, the tribe wandered close to where the woods bordered on farmlands of western Aundair where they were set upon by bandits. It can only be assumed that the bandits themselves were starving, nomadic tribes are hardly wealthy. All were killed apart from one small boy that was chucked into the bushes.

After the bandits had moved on, having taken all of the tribe’s meagre belongings, a kindly farmer found the boy in the bush. No doubt attracted by the boy's screams. As kind as the farmer was, he was not going to let a shifter child be with his own children, and being a time of war he could not afford another mouth to feed. So the farmer took the boy to a nearby monastery.

The monastery took the boy, named him, clothed him and taught him. Elias grows up in an order of Shadow Dancers.

As Elias reached maturity, his feet began to itch, he had never been beyond the walls of the monastery since he was deposited on their doorstep. So he walked out into the world and explored.

He had an uneventful journey east across Aundair, shovelling shit on farms to earn some coin, and on one exciting occasion helping some villagers fend off a night attack from a pack of Kobolds. Aftertime, he wandered into Karrnath.  And one drizzly night he enters the capital of this nation, Korth, where he happens across a most unexpected adventure.
