God of the Art
Deity

"I loved their art,
As they loved mine,
A love I never can have,

Their paintbrush sings,
And I wish to follow,
But my mortal hands fail me,

Their needles weave magic,
My own fabrics betray me,
I look on with my aging body,

Their hammer smiths perfection,
But my clumsy hands cannot strike metal,
Forever am I doomed to be not lover, but admirer"

- "Love for the Immaculate", Written by Unknown

Dorios the Shaper, also known as the Immaculate, the Worldsmith, and the First Artist, they are the deity of the Art, magic, and beauty. They are the keeper of the Weave and the source of all magic.

History

Dorios' vast domain hints that they belong among the old gods since before the world was young, believed to have cast Aranor into shape while Alissa breathed it into life and Lunissa began the grim harvest by which it could be sustained. Their most enduring mark on Aranor is the Tapestry, an interwoven, impossibly complex weave of metaphysical strands from which all magic originates. It is a paradox in of itself to witness in the limited senses that mortals can achieve, a work of perfect, unfailing structure yet composed from the stuff of raw, unlimited potential that is endlessly reordering and structuring itself to the ebbs and flows of the powers that suffuse the world of Aranor. Shrouded in far more mystery than any of the gods there is precious little if anything preserved from the Forgotten Age to hint at Dorios' history and less has been gleaned since which has led to a humbling theory by scholars even admitted by their worshippers that Dorios has moved onto other projects than Aranor to continue their cosmic craft.

Characteristics

Dorios has no known appearance or registered avatar to ever have walked upon the face of Aranor which has led to a great deal of artistic license in the countless attempts at creating the likeness of the Worldsmith. Their gender remains unknown, argued by some to be beyond such arbitrary concepts, as such Dorios is largely referred to as neuter and in their various depictions often given an either inorganic or androgynous appearance, but almost unfailingly painfully beautiful to look upon. Distant, silent, and utterly removed from the world they played such a vital part in forming, Dorios is now a lingering mystery even to the other pantheons surrounding their vacant seat known only perhaps to the oldest of the gods.

Worship

No recorded worshipper of Dorios has been able to verify beyond reasonable doubt that they have communed with Dorios and yet those who draw divine power from them certainly exist which has proven both that Dorios yet lives but also that they have no direct interest of their own worshippers. Whether there can truly be clerics of Dorios or if they are merely magi accessing the Tapestry by the most direct link remains a constant debate of theologians across Aranor and even among the faith itself.

The temples of Dorios are rarely places of worship and guidance as much as they are grand museums containing (and sometimes composed of) arts and crafts of exquisite beauty, exceptional ingenuity, or dazzling creativity carefully selected by the discerning eye of the Dorian clergy to honour the greatest creator of all. Resembling guilds or colleges more than they do religious conventions, the clergy of Dorios is drawn from the ranks of artists, craftsmen, and tinkerers who emulate the Shaper in their own works mundane or magical.

A nine-rayed star is the most common symbol of Dorios to represent the small glimpse of the Tapestry recorded. Their favoured weapon is the hammer owing to it's associations with craftsmanship and the most common domains associated with Dorios are Arcana and Forge.
