Creating Your Kitty

Game system

Making your kitty is like making up a character in a story. You decide what he or she looks like, what they like to do or don't like to do, and their personality. Part of creating your kitty is also assigning certain numbers used in the game's rules.

First you have to decide on your kitty's name. This could be a name their human uses, or another name that magical kitties call them, or both.  Then decide what your kitty looks like. Think about different colors and cat breeds.

Next each kitty has three Attributes: Cute, Cunning, and Fierce. These represent how your kitty interacts with the story. You can read about how they work by going to How to Play.

Cute: This describes how appealing your kitty is and is used for social interactions. Your kitty can use Cute to get a human to feed her, to befriend a strange kitty, or to cheer up a sad friend.

Cunning: This describes how smart and tricky your kitty is, and is also used for tasks that need patience or awareness. Your kitty can use Cunning to find a good hiding spot, to outwit a dog, or to operate a human machine. Kitties also make a Cunning check any time they try to read human writing.

Fierce: This describes how strong, quick, and courageous your kitty is, and is used for most physical tasks. Your kitty can use Fierce to catch a mouse, to win a race, or to leap onto the back of a terrible monster.

Each kitty starts with one Attribute that has a value of 3, one with a value of 2, and one with a value of 1.

You next pick your kitty's Talent. A Talent is something your kitty is good at. It could be a natural gift, or something your kitty had to practice a lot. Unlike Magical Powers, Talents are things that could happen in the real world, although some might be a stretch for regular kitties. Talents are more specific than Attributes, and they usually come into play a few times per episode.

Your kitty's Flaw is another thing that makes him or her unique. Flaws might seem negative or problematic for your kitty, but they make the story more interesting.

There is a list of Flaws you can use to choose one.

Magical Power

Each kitty has a Magical Power. Like Talents, Magical Powers are fairly specific and they only come up a few times each episode. Unlike Talents, these powers let kitties do things that aren't possible in the real world.

You can choose one from the list of Magical Powers.

Choose Your Human

Finally, you need to decide who your kitty's human is.

Your human is the person you live with and who you care most about helping. You'll want to check with your GM before deciding, so you know a little bit about where your kitties are living and what kinds of humans would work best. Your GM might also give you specific requirements for your human.

It's also a good idea to talk to the other players. After all, it's easiest if all the kitties' humans live near each other, and it's often fun for them to all be friends or family members.

Just like your kitty, your human can be almost anyone you can imagine! Resist the urge to start with someone who's already happy and comfortable, though. It's the kitties' jobs to make their people's lives better. Here are some things you might think about while creating your human.

Every human also has a Problem. You'll work with your GM on what sort of problem it is. Maybe your human is a child who has a bully bothering them at school, or maybe your human owns a store and is anxious about business.
