The Shingase is a family heirloom of the Heishi Clan. It had been in the family for generations, and was kept on prominent display as a symbol of power.
The blade is currently being kept hidden in Mizen after it was used by Jin Mori to kill Yomei Heishi in revenge for his master's death, cursing the blade.
