Azuma is a former member of the Heishi Clan, and the former mentor of Jin Mori.
After a curse befell the Heishi Clan bloodline, Azuma left the family, taking on the name Mori in its place. However, after years of conflict with his old clan, he was murdered by his brother Yomei Heishi, the clan's leader.
