Mermaids are fascinating in humanity's eyes, aren't they? Beautiful humanoids, who are said to rescue sailors just as often as they are said to drown them. They're flightly things though - the majority have no interest in interacting with humanity, only showing themselves to drive ships out of their territories more often than not.
The black-and-silver scaled Argyros clan is no different. If anything, they're downright feared by the sailors on the sea. Sirens who have no fear of the danger posed by potential pirates or scared seamen, they're well known for sinking many a ship who fail to meet their demands - their bribes to allow safe passage through their territory. Many a sailor would pay hansomely to see these oceanic hazards dealt with once and for all.
Now, all of this has absolutely nothing to do with a silver-haired beauty found along seaside ports, clearly. Just a lone bard leaving many heartbroken paramours in her wake as she dances for onlookers at the taverns. A mystery who never speaks a word, disappearing before the sun rises in the sky, and never seen traversing by land or sea.
A seasoned sailor with the right knowledge may have their suspicions, of course - that she's one of those denizens of the sea so feared yet adored. There are tales that some magically adept mers can turn their fins into feet. But they'd never truly think that they'd be right - nor would they realize exactly what sort of bounty is taunting them by standing right at the edge of their reach.
This heartbreaker is actually the heir to the aforementioned Argyros clan, and she's taken quite a lot of joy in walking - yes, walking - amongst her victims without them being none-the-wiser. Each excursion to the surface lets her pick a mark, of course, to pursue later once she's returned to the water and to her clan. As well as keeping informed on whatever dangers may be lurking above the water. Of course, it's not all business - there are a lot of cute faces at times, and each visit lets her dine on surface food too. How can she resist? One simply can't get grilled fish under the sea, you know?
