History
Previously known as land inhabited by an ancient people called among other names, The Sheladi. This land has since the Age of Exploration slowly been settled by people from various continents.
People know only of tales spoken by the survivors of previous endeavors to settle Patle Diame. Most stories spoke of clear shores which suddenly filled with armies of warriors. As the armies stormed out of the tree lines and rushed towards the ships. Few survived long enough to make their way back to the ship, and even for those who did survive, there was no sure way to know if the ship would be able to take off before it burned down at sea from volleys of flaming arrows setting them ablaze.
Where to the Sheladi disappeared is anyones best guess. A couple relics have found their way into the hands of collectors over the years, but no one has managed to trace them back to wherever these people lived. Archaeologists have gathered that they must have lived in the desert or mountain ranges surrounding them based on the materials found on relics.
The Settling
The Age of Exploration really started with the re-discovery of Patle Diame, as it is referred to by most common folk. People left their current lives in an attempt to build a new one. These people had to go on a treacherous journey, which some didn't always make. Due to disputes over land there have been many battles held across the lands in between warring factions hoping to set their own flags. Most notorious is the city of Fleetfall, which has been under constant conflict since its settlement.
The number of settlements which have made it past the first generation are few, and traveling across the coasts shows a number of ghost towns in various sizes, though some might be hard to spot due to the ravages of time and nature. In more recent years there have been certain claims to land which have lasted, for example The Westamri Empire has though diplomatic means absorbed many towns and settlements across the west coast and some of the southern parts of Patle Diame.
