The Twelve Stories of the Phoenix

In the world there are 12 ledgends of the Phoenix, each holding just a little truth.

Mango's Version of The Golden Phoenix

It is said that a phoenix is meant to represent strength, or at least be a symbol of strength. They are said to die every night but are reborn every sunrise as they rise from the ashes and rejoin the world of the living.

The golden phoenix however, is said to use its own golden feathers combined with the light from its flames to shine bright, and to take the suns place at night (son of sunlight). It is said that they would fly over miles and miles during night time to help those they found on their flights, and those who showed promise and compassion were rewarded with one of its golden feathers.

The people said that taught them to farm, and use magics. They say that the golden phoenix shined a path every night so people could follow, they say they made the dark a little less scary, but no one has seen them since the last bright night the golden phoenix shared with us.

Some say that maybe the phoenix became greedy with their time at night, wanting to await rebirth in peace during the shadows of the night. Or that they gave away all their feathers, maybe they left because it took the suns place when the sun never expected them too.

Heek's Version

When the world was still dark, where there wasn't a sun or a moon, the only thing to keep the creatures of the land safe and warm was fire. That was until the gods blessed us with two phoenix, a golden one, who branded a fiery golden cloak rumored to be made out of the hottest fire in all land and a silver one, who wore a silver silk mantle rumored to be made out of the purest of stardust.

The golden one ruled over what today we call the day time, spreading light and warmth to all creatures, allowing them to see the land more clearly and the plants to grow and give us beautiful flowers, tall trees for shade and food to fill our bellies. It taught our people how to fight and gave us the gift of flight, showing us how to do it.

The silver one ruled over what we call night, it's cool and white glow would bring ease into everyone's heart, and even if it's light wasn't as strong, it was enough for the creatures to sleep at night peacefully and rest until the golden Phoenix's came again. It taught us how to be graceful and how to appreciate all different kinds of art forms, such as dancing and singing.

The Phoenix soon started to get into some problems, there was never enough time for them to spend with our people before the other came to take their place. "Fighting and flight are the most essential things, therefore I should spend more time with them!" Said the golden Phoenix. "I disagree, learning how to be graceful as the ocean and sing as beautifully as wind are most certainly more essential! I should be the one to spend more time amongst them." The silver one contested.

This went on and on for many years until one day the gods had enough of their arguing, you either reach an agreement or there will be no more day or night for the creatures, only darkness.

That set fear into the Phoenix's hearts, never see the creatures again because they couldn't agree who deserved more time with them? How foolish of them!

So they sat down and finally came into an agreement, they had decided that instead of being among the creatures, they would be very high up in the sky, watching them constantly, the golden one became a fiery ball, what we now call our sun, and the silver one became a cool shining sphere, what we now call the moon.

They would take turns to spend more time watching them, some days would be shorter than the nights and some nights would be shorter than the days.

Some days the sun would shine stronger than before and the moon would be hidden away in the darkness, other days the sun's glory would be taken away by the beautiful glow of the moon.

Some of our people say that one day they will come back again to aid us in a time of need, but as of now they're happy to just watch us from very high up in the sky.
