Newport is the second biggest city in the Three Rivers Federation and capital of the province of Glanton.

Topology

The city is located by the see, with the Nornwood River splitting the city in two sides. The southern side used to be a march, and is very humid. The northern part is part hills, with some higher mountains protecting the northern part.

Geography and Climate

The climate is mostly dry and warm, ranging from 8°C in the winter to 28°C in the summer. Precipitations are low, and crops are irrigated in the neighbouring area, mostly using the Tinter river.

Government

The city is governed by an council.

Population

The population of Newport is of about 23'600 people. Most of which are humans (>80%). The population is pretty racist, which has driven away most other races from living in the city. The minority who live still live there have difficulty getting basic administrative needs, and most decide to go live in the country site, or in other placed like Feniton or Enida.

Economy

The economy is pretty rich for the region, with about 30% of the income coming from trade, while most of the rest comes from farming.

North

The Northern part is by far the wealthiest place. The roads are stoned, the buildings kept clean, the buildings secure, some being 3 stories high. Most of the artisans and traders are located here.

South

The Southern part of the city is pretty squalid. Wooden houses and warehouses mingle together, the streets are muddy, and mostly manual labour lived here.

Religion

People can freely follow any religion they want. The biggest church is headed by Lorenas.

Crime

The southern part of the city has a big crime problem, with several gangs fighting for control, and little done by the city government.

History

The city was founded long after Weymouth, first as an outpost to the rest of Thaelia, and later as an important trade route.

Newport was a free city before the Weymouth War for Newport, after which it joined other regional duchies to form the Three Rivers Federation.
