Great Dying of Thaelia

Disaster
874-896 AC

The Great Dying of Thaelia was a series of natural disasters that occurred during the late 9th century Thaelian Calendar and primarily affected civilisations of the Thaelian continent.

Several years of colder weather and bad yields led to the a devastating famine that killed roughly thirty percent of the continent, reducing the total population down from 33 million to 23 million.

Aftermath

Most kingdoms and borders were changed as a result of the great dying, and many cities never still haven't recovered to this day. Countries to the south of the continent were most hit, with the Kingdom of Herun losing over fifty percent of its population. Scholars agree that the profound change in the kingdom lead to it's collapse twenty years later.
