A hundred years after The Recall, as the The Thousand Isles started recovering from a period of lawlessness and anarchy, the newly established major powers of the The Inner Archipelago became progressively more aggressive toward each other and a period of intense inter island warfare began.
As one response to that, Haven Towne embarked on a century-long series of projects to fortify Haven Bay, named the “Iron Bay” projects. The most impressive result of this was the massive fortress called the Castillo
Built on a plateau about five miles southeast from Haven Towne overlooking the southern bay, the guns of this fortress commanded the entire southern sea approach and harbor in addition to the southerly land approaches and the River Sur.
The fortress has been continually expanded for three and half centuries and now is one of the most powerful redoubts in the island . It is also the headquarters of the Haven Army.
