The Hand of Ubris

Religion
A religious organization that venerates the god Osryn the light bearer. They actively seek to suppress and stamp out the presence of Witches, Wizards, Mages, and those that practice any spell casting. The Hand of Ubris believes that those that cast spells bring darkness into the realm and therefor extinguish the light inside of all.  

Osryn is made up of five separate aspects known as the Quinternity.  
Adherents must continually seek after being "in the clutches" of the hand.  

THE FIVE ASPECTS

First is the aspect of The Accuser
  • Those that do not adhere to the injunctions must be rooted out and put on display for all to see.
Second is the aspect of the Enemy
  • Those that do not adhere to the injunctions shall be called an enemy of Ubris.
Third is the aspect of the God Spouse
  • When choosing a spouse, the Ubran priest must agree to such a union. One week prior to marriage those deemed worthy of marriage must have their First Marriage which is to the god Osryn. After a ritual cleanse by the priests the betrothed can then seven days after the first marriage be married to their mortal spouse.
  • The "cleansing" may consist of mundane duties, fasting, and even sexual intercourse.
Fourth is the aspect of the Community
  • Without the Ubran community and their religious gatherings one cannot attempt to be pure on their own. The community is the grasp and the grasp keeps us safe.
Fifth is the aspect of the Security
  • Certainty is knowing that Osryn has you securely in his grasp. Ubrans call this "in the clutches". If you are "in the clutches" then you are pure and presiding in the palm.
 

UBRAN INJUNCTIONS

  1. Magic of any sort is condemned by the Hand. All witchcraft, druidcraft, wizardy, sorcery, warlockery, bardcraft, and any ancestral worship is condemned by Osryn.
  2. Marriage ceremonies performed by any priest besides and Ubran priest are not recognized by the Hand of Ubris.
  3. The calling on any other god other than Osryn is to be met with cleansing.
  4. Playing of music that does not venerate Osryn is to be met with cleansing.
  5. Speaking of the dead is an atrocity and Osryn demands cleansing.

Public Agenda

Believing that spell casting is evil in nature and currupts the light of the soul. The Hand of Ubris is attempting to stamp out all practitioners of magic.
